  19. I'm running the following environment on my 486/50:

  22.        com2: 16550 fifo
  23.    modem/TA: ZyXEL Elite 2864I with firmware 1.09 for DSS1
  24.          os: Onsite Unix SVR4.2 Version 1.0 (based on USL)
  25. asyc-driver: sas-1.25 with some fixes
  26.      PPP-sw: pppd-0.85
  27.      fax-sw: HylaFAX v3.0pl1 (BTW: works also fine)
  28.  DTE-speeds: 38400 for fax and dial-in, 115.200 for dial-out (PPP)
  29.       usage: 24 hours ready for incoming calls, ~4-6 hours PPP
  30.     CONNECT: 24.000-28.800, less then 1 line drop per week
  31.              ISDN 64000/115200 X.75

  33. I'm using the 2864I with ISDN X.75 PPP to my ISP. This works fine
  34. and w/o any problems at DTE speed 115.200.
  35. The used AT-cmd's are:
  36. AT&FE0
  37. AT&O2
  38. ATB00
  39. ATD........
  40. There are no problems. Some days ago I ftp'ed a ~7MB file from
  41. my ISP with 4.6 kbps.

  43. In our company we've a ISDN-router (BANZAI!). The BANZAI! also
  44. speaks PPP. After fixing some negotiating problems the link is
  45. now up and running and I can telnet, ftp (small files), ...
  46. The 2864I AT-cmd's are:
  47. AT&FE0
  48. AT&O1
  49. ATB40        <*** async-to-sync-PPP converter)
  50. AT&K00        <*** disable V.42bis
  51. AT&H3
  52. ATD.......

  54. The bad news are:
  55. If I want to ftp-put a large (say 1MB) file the connection freezes
  56. with the follwing symptoms:
  57. - sending "put filename" scrolls very slow one line up in my xterm
  58. - the ftp-transfer and all other (e.g. telnet) connections are stopping
  59.   after 1-2 seconds (they don't drop but are w/o traffic);
  60. - no more then ~6KB are transfered to the remote ftp-server disk;
  61. - killing the pppd with kill(1) gives this panic:

  70. - if the file is compressed with gzip, the transfer works for
  71.   2-3 minutes and ~600 KB are transfered;
  72.   [BTW: the transfer freezes in the same moment I've opened another xterm

  75. Where to start debugging? sas-driver? ppp-asyc driver? other places?

  77. Is the 115.200 fast enough for the ISDN rate (64kbit)?
  78. Should I go and buy a I/O card with hardware 460.800 speed.
